Promote Deliberative Democracy in Sweden: Attend FIDE's Autumn School 2023

The Federation for Innovation in Democracy Europe (FIDE) invites you to Autumn School 2023, a capacity-building event taking place on October 12-13 in Helsinki, Finland. The event, organized in partnership with Sitra, the Finnish Innovation Fund, aims to equip politicians, civil servants, and societal actors with the knowledge and understanding they need to successfully implement Citizens' Assemblies.

FIDE is a non-partisan organization that advises governments and policy-makers on how best to involve everyday people in the decision-making process. They firmly believe that a diverse group of citizens can reach informed judgements and propose meaningful policy recommendations. FIDE connects and federates expertise on deliberative democracy from across Europe.

For Swedes, where the concept of Citizens' Assemblies has not yet been implemented on a large scale, participation in this event can provide an opportunity to deepen their understanding of Citizens' Assemblies and their role in promoting a more inclusive and participatory form of governance. By participating in the Autumn School, Swedes can gain valuable insights and tools to bring this form of democracy to their own communities.

During Autumn School 2023, participants will cover topics ranging from understanding the "why" to framing the question, and from preparing the administration to successful facilitation and media engagement. These sessions will be led by leading experts in deliberative democracy, including Art O Leary, Secretary General of the Irish Electoral Commission, and Zakia Elvang, founder and democracy advisor for Danish We Do Democracy, among others.

Registration for Autumn School is open until Friday, September 29, and the event is limited to a total of 60 participants. The registration fee includes participation in the Autumn School, accommodation for two nights, and breakfast and catering throughout the entire event.
